8:30pm are you kidding me

For how much longer are we going to put up with the commercial TV stations treating football fans like second class citizens?

This will be the biggest game of the pre-season, unless Richmond make the pre season Grand Final and instead of watching Cousins live tonight I have to put up with The Biggest Loser and Bondi Vet, thanks very much channel 10!

I also see that channel 7 is not going to be any better they will be bending football fans over and sticking it to us again each and every Friday night of the season.

Great to see Fox Sports will show their games live over the weekend god bless pay TV. I will be enjoying the Cricket LIVE tonight from South Africa thanks again Fox Sports.

Oh and by the way 10 try not to run overtime tonight... we all hate you enough as it is, you would not want to make is worse.

C-Day

Today is the Day.

Cousins is allowed back into the AFL's world thanks to the last minute life line given to him late last year by the Tigers.

Even thou the entire football community will have its eyes on the Dome tonight the game goes not really mean much. Terry Wallace has already announced that Richmond will rest some of its stars. Wallace is clearly saving the full strength Tigers outfit for the first game of the 2009 season against Carlton.

I am sure every AFL newspaper reporter worth their weight will have a column for their paper / tv station / radio station for the Friday editions. I am also sure that the stories by those reporters will start at one end of the scale and range all the way to the other.

See you all at the Dome!

Countdown to Thursday Night

The countdown to Cousins day was announced yesterday at the Richmond FC family day by coach Terry Wallace. We now only have three sleeps until Ben Cousins runs out onto the Docklands with his new team mates.

Cousins won’t be the only new face to pull on the yellow and black on Thursday, youngsters Tyrone Vickery and Alex Rance will also be pulling on the boots but I like most Richmond and football supporters we are only looking at the number 32 jumper.

Like a Britney Spears record Ben Cousins will be in the centre of the ring come Thursday’s media circus at the docklands. Every media outlet will be down at the dome to cover the story and we are still in the pre-season! We are still many weeks away from the start of the season proper when all the story lines will be the former team mates Judd vs Cousins facing off at their new clubs.

A New Season

As the old saying goes "Oh well there is always next year" this is a phrase I have been uttering as a Richmond Tigers supporter for a long time. Born in ’79 I have only been alive for one of Richmond’s premiership and of course I don’t remember sitting in front of the TV to watch Tony Jewell and his crew lift the cup.

The addition of Ben Cousins to the playing roster for the 2009 season has created a new hope for all Richmond members and supports alike.

I guess I am one of the many Tiger faithful who fell in love with the idea of getting a player with the skill of Cousins, basically for free as we did not have to trade any players to pick him up. But as if Ben Cousins did not have enough pressure on him to stay clean and out of trouble he now carries the hopes and dreams of Richmond supporters everywhere. I am a huge fan of Richo and Brown just to name a few but it is Cousins who the fans are all looking towards to carry us up the premiership ladder.

As I look towards the 2009 season I sit here and pray (even tho I am not even in the slightest bit religious) for a successful season, not just for me but for suffering Tigers supporters everywhere.

I am going to Blog my way through the 2009 AFL season, from my point of view, which is simply an average guy who wants to see his football team succeed.
